Driver (Lethem Office)

Location: Lethem, Guyana

Job Summary: The position is responsible for supporting the Cl-Guyana country program by providing transportation services in a timely, safe and responsible manner and supports the procurement of office and field supplies. S/he ensures that CI vehicles are routinely serviced, maintained in a clean and tidy manner, and all vehicle licenses, inspections and insurances comply with local laws and operations policies. This position also assists the finance department with banking and payments and supports the collection and delivery of mails/cargo.

Experience driving in interior regions and on roads with rough terrains is required.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for CI-Guyana staff, partners, and stakeholders across all regions of Guyana and arrange for alternative transportation as needed.
• Deliver and collect mail, correspondence, supplies, and cargo as required.
• Assist with procurement activities by soliciting quotations from suppliers and preparing purchase or service orders for credit purchases.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, including daily inspections (engine oil, water, tire pressure), routine servicing, and cleaning to ensure roadworthiness and minimize downtime. Report any malfunctions immediately to the Supervisor to ensure safe and reliable vehicle operation.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, ensuring that each trip is fully documented with all relevant details.
• Ensure all vehicles are compliant with local laws and CI policies, including valid licenses, motor insurance, fitness certificates, and other required documentation.
• Support CI-Guyana’s banking operations by making deposits and processing payments to suppliers on behalf of the organization.
• Ensure the ‘Passenger Release form is completed & signed by all non-CI persons before traveling in CI owned vehicles.
• Ensure, if necessary, the ‘CI incident reporting form’ is completed as soon as possible and any irregularities with the vehicle, while in use or parked, are immediately reported to your supervisor/manager’
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills:
• High School or Secondary School education, with up to 5 years of work experience.
• Ability to operate and drive manual shift vehicles.
• Experience overseeing fleet or vehicle maintenance schedules.
• Full Driver’s License/Qualifications recognized in Guyana.
• Experience in navigating and driving on rough terrains and interior regions of Guyana.
• Knowledge of general motor mechanics and vehicle maintenance.
• Clear understanding and ability to follow Procurement Processes.
• Ability to perform CPR and First Aid Responses would be an asset.
• Respectful and good Interpersonal Skills.
